A fantastical collection for spring! The lights dimmed at Avery Fisher Hall terrace and Etta James' "Sunday Kind of Love" started to play and created a romantic mood in the air. The collection presentation for spring by Zac Posen begins.
Several looks displayed this romanticism which began with pretty day dresses such as a muted floral silk and chiffon one and a pleated rose-print style cinched at the waist. Posen continues the rose inspiration in a beautiful embroidery on a navy bustier worn with a long satin skirt.
In the past Posen would get carried away, but this time he really reigned it in and did keep things a bit light. His more elaborate gowns were a feast for the eyes and displayed an extravagance of modern elegance. There were just a couple of gowns that leaned more on a too extravagant side. The finale tiered ballgown worn by Coco Rocha was one of those that were one of them yet it was beautifully designed and constructed.
Zac Posen has a great eye for smart draping and sharp construction and he is great in creating silhouettes that exude power, sensuality, elegance and modern class. Overall the designs were impeccable and I am certain that spring welcomes his entire collection with open arms!
One of the best fall collections for fall/winter is Zac Posen. He designed beautiful and dramatic clothes that were stunning in craftsmanship and details. It also celebrated the appreciation of the female body and by adorning it with these creations it magnified the beauty of the woman.
This was done with a fascination of the chinoiserie and Japan.
Short dresses, evening gowns and evening suits came in red, gold, jewel tones and neutral tones. Beautiful floral jacquards and wonderful obi sashes were added to give a fantastic Eastern touch. The entire collection has a luxurious air and cannot help but radiate a splendorous elegance.
This was all because of the Posen signature silhouettes which were the peplum waisted tops and jackets, the sharp tailoring, super slim waists and the mermaid gowns of which stunning bodices were built of fabulous seams and detail work. When things are pared down this is when Posen is truly at his best. He is a great talent and is more grounded in his design process and because of this the results are beautiful.
After showing a couple of times in Paris, Zac Posen came back home to New York and showed an extremely modern, sophisticated, glamorous collection that one cannot resist. There was no gimmick and there was no forcing in making any kind of statement. In fact the statement that Posen made was effortless.
For this season there is a focus on construction and an experimentation in color and shapes. Embroidery and cording is present throughout and the clever details were on point. One spectacular dress after another came out and they all certainly caught the attention of everyone in the room.
A feast of potential red carpet gowns are imminent. Stylists! Get cracking for the next award season!!
Zac Posen, congratulations and welcome home! You made a great point with your collection and did an amazing job!
