Vera Wang Spring/Summer 2013 is Fresh with Colorful Touches.

Vera Wang has been making sure that her natural aesthetic, which is artistic, is more commercially savvy. She did a wonderful job in doing so. For this spring she looked at India for inspiration and the result was beautiful. White, moody colors and some rich embellishments were added to create stunners.

The body conscious silhouette that Wang was committed to was kept interesting and had a freshness that was on the cusp of eccentric.

Wang started the show with whites, that included curvy jackets over voluminous skirts incorporating intricate tonal soutache treatments. This was indeed refreshing but once the colors came out it lifted Wang up some more.

The wonderful deep blue, purple and dark green had a certain mystery. The short, off the shoulder dresses with bell sleeves were very charming and the lace sheaths with intensely jeweled medallions at the waist were magnificent.
What Vera Wang is capable of is that she is versatile and always coming up with designs that are extremely fresh and modern and most of all super elegant. That is the Vera Wang stamp.

Vera Wang Fall 2012. Subtle Edge in Elegance.

In the program notes there was a sentence that said "Opposites...are revealed in grey." What does this statement mean? It was a bit confusing. Gray was pretty much mixed into a lot of black, vibrant orange and nude. There were some blue in the mix as well.



Vera Wang is a designer who always has a vision  that stimulates the fashion palette of any woman who desires modern elegance in style and fashion. 
Last season Wang offered so much transparency that was a bit unpractical to wear, whereas this season there is a sense of wearable practicality. She makes them in wonderful artful configurations and matches them up with quite impressive outerwear, opening in beige wool, moving into charcoal. This ranged from sleeveless coat to a more feminine cape jacket. The contrast of vibrant tangerine with pale chiffons were great contrasts.



The beautiful Dutch blue chiffon and organza gowns with crystal mesh embellishments and the architectural prints on languid silks were a great mixture of hard and soft. There were some looks that had a lot going on such as the peculiar abdominal froth looks. Other looks were just perfect with the elements of strength and beauty with a gentle sophisticated quality.
Vera Wang expresses a wonderful stream of femininity which has a subtle edge that never compromises the elegance. Excellent.

Alice is Vera Wang's Inspiration for Spring/Summer 2012

When designers are experimenting, evaluating and even challenging themselves there is an amazing artistic result that manifests from this process. This spring it is no wonder that Vera Wang named her collection for spring after Alice. This collection was a wonderful way of seeing through the looking glass where intrigue and madness is found in many wonderful ways. Wang's look was focused on intricate bodice construction and layering of airy fabrics - opaque, transparent, piqued, otherwise perforated - cut and crafted with incredible attention to detail. There were references of couture and sports alike. Some looks were manipulated in 18th-century wallpaper that Wang called "trippy," and in the diaphanous cutaway-skirt motif.
Apart from the lovely, pastel and gentle gray palette the collection had quite a few beauties and overall was delightfully exquisite. This collection could have been shown in Paris. It had the quality and creative impact that I look for in the collections in Paris. I think that Alice would agree.
