A Touch of Carolina Herrera for Spring 2013.

Carolina Herrera expressed "lightness" and "fluidity," the buzzwords in her spring show notes. There was a concentration on slim silhouettes with some light and fluid fabrics like chiffon, organza, tulle, organza and georgette, which all achieved her goal.

An ivory crepe halter dress with a cowl neckline and a white gown column gown done in tonal jacquards with a caped shoulder were a couple of examples of simplicity which was one of the element in the collection. They were quite light and beautiful.

There was a variation of an abstract print in some strange combinations of pastels with flashes of orange and black. There were also some odd pairings of polished jackets and flounced silk shorts. These clothes seem to be a bit confusing because they were not going hand in hand with Herrera's breezy designs which were elegant. These were pin tucked and embroidered.

Some results were lace shirt dresses, sheer and cut below the knee, and some white numbers with great touches of gold embellishments.

Although this collection had a bit of a confusing moments, Carolina Herrera always has the touch of elegance in all her designs. It is always a pleasure to witness and enjoy.

Carolina Herrera Fall/Winter 2012-13

Regal colors and silhouettes dominated. The first group that was a combination of black and navy were absolutely classy and elegant. Throughout there was a commitment of displaying true regal elegance with subdued colors.

Luxurious fabrics such as knits combined with feather and fur details blurred the line between traditional day and eveningwear, and had a modern flexibility. For example, a turtleneck sweater was sewn with broadtail details on the front and worn with an embroidered wool pencil skirt, and a wispy embroidered silk dress peaked out from under a cozy melange knit coat. There were a number of beautiful gowns with full skirts that were done in modern ways that maintained the Carolina Herrera signature. Abstract prints by artist Joe Duke were painted onto fabrics that were a bit too much and some of these pieces seem to be out of place in the line up.


The finale dress was stunning. Its ample wide and full skirt and cinched in waist accented by a black belt proudly closed the show reminding all those present Carolina Herrera's flair for glamorous, regal and classic modern creativity.

Bauhaus was Carolina Herrera's Calling for Spring/Summer 2012



This is a collection that was extremely potent with elegance and sophistication and a wonderful modernity that Carolina Herrera designed for Spring/Summer 2012. She was inspired by Bauhaus and it's influence in art, fashion, interiors, lifestyle, colors and shapes. The clothes were delivered in lines, blocks and stripes and various geometric renderings. The beautiful bird prints on her dresses and separates were quite charming. The colors are inspired by Bakelite bracelets. Her signature staples are present in this collection which, of course, can not do without. Her evening wear in a splendor that is to die for or to live for. Her vision for evening all constructed and fluid was a treat and I could not have taken my eyes off of it as the elegance of it captured my attention.
Carolina Herrera is truly a master of classic style and constantly keeps designing collections that are modern and fresh.
