Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2013. His Fourth Haute Couture Collection.

The setting was the splenderous Italian Embassy in Paris which Giambattista Valli chose for his fourth couture presentation. This time he revealed a collection that was mostly sleek and sculptural.
He opened the show with a wasp silhouette, minimalist evening coat that was cinched in the waist and made of silk fabric that was of an abstract lynx fur print.

This set the tone what was about to come as the main template for the collection. Black and white animal prints on short or long dresses or bearing light decoration. Coats and dresses embroidered with flowers with petals composed of feathers was an example of Valli restraining from hedgelike volumes thus showing his restrained side. There was also a sexy like a bustier dress with animal print veiled in black tulle which was graphic as well.

Purely elegant were the wonderful dresses that were nipped in the waist with multi layered tulle twinkling with tiny crystals. Youthfully sexy were the very short dresses in heavy curtain brocades with swaying Watteau backs.

At the end the finale looks were just grand in heavy silks and bearing long trains with structured bodices and sweeping skirts that were regal and sublime.
Valli continues to design haute couture beautifully. He offers impeccable design and craftsmanship that are all sublime in detail, texture and creativity. What a beautiful spring it will be for 2013 for the House of Giambattista Valli!

Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2012 is a Beauty of Nature.

Haute Couture is always a marvelous garden of high quality clothes that are breath taking and that satisfies the anticipation of the clients, editors and the entire world that loves fashion.
Giambattista Valli created his third haute couture collection which expressed a quality that looked highly lush and feminine. Beautiful silhouettes merged with ruffles and volume were outstanding.

This time it looked as if nature whispered to Valli in his dreams, guiding him every step of the way and at the same time supporting him in creating this collection. He pushed his experiments further. Cocktail dresses had much flares at the hip that were just perfect. Layered organza were fluffy for peplum on jackets.

Ruffles jutted out of the sides of dresses and gowns and layers of ruffles were around the neck.
The array of botanical print gave the impression of nature showing its beauty through clothes.

Some were cut into leaf or petal shapes and densely embroidered onto dresses. Over models heads were netting that on some had a butterfly on the mouth as if they were forest nymphs that were summoned to model these designs.

The volume throughout speaks for itself and the colors started from autumnal colors and ended to a vivid green color palette. These beautiful nature inspired sculptures are pure couture. Valli's followers have great looks to choose from. There is no excuse not to get at least one, two or more pieces from this collection. After all, haute couture is all about exquisite clothes and Giambattista Valli definitely knows how to design them.

Couturier Giambattista Valli Designs for Couture Spring 2012

Giambattista Valli channelled haute couture in a beautiful and dreamy luxurious way. A mixture of stiff and soft fabrics, shine and glitter, and the transparency all and more were perfect ingredients for his collection for this spring. The world of Haute Couture has embraced him as a great couturier that can fulfill any clients dream one way or another. I enjoyed the mixture of evening gowns he offered from the soft chiffon ensemble to the bold ball gowns. The short dresses were a constant parade of perfect garnishing of embroidery and beadwork and I loved the cream jacket with the exaggerated bow with the black patent skirt, which reminded me of Dior's Bar Suit. The Oscars are coming up and his dresses are worth wearing on the red carpet.

Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011. A Splendid Debut.

Giambattista Valli

The Chambre Syndicale's newest guest member made his couture debut and it was very delightful to see a pretty presentation at the 19th-century Galerie de la Madeleine passageway. Giambattista Valli already has a loyal clientele, some of which already have ordered his designs. His designs were sculptured, soft, fluid and played with volume that all satisfied the eyes with some pops of color and wild animal prints. There was beautiful cape that was layered with an embroidery of pretty Lilly of the Valley flowers dripping down the garment, a beautiful tweed suit that was covered with jet beads and ostrich feathers. Impressing stunners included a coral bustier dress with a matching cape and a white flowing dress with beautifully layered shoulders.
This is a great beginning for this couture first timer. The only thing is that it would be great to see a few daytime pieces. Other than that, I am pleased with this presentation.
What a splendid debut!

Creative Expression at Paris Fashion Week

Creative expression is always here no matter how much time goes by. When we are surrounded by it and are open to it then somehow our hearts beat with excitement. And these collections did just that.
A collection to get some pretty basic pieces and separates with the touch of pretty and good quality came from Giambattista Valle. She designed some dresses that are appealing and that for sure would be sold in a split second. Red and yellow were the bright colors that were splashed into the garments to add some flavor to the canvas of her designs. There were some pretty floral prints, ruffles swooping on the hip lines of some skirts and a play with shapes. The show started simple and ended with simple extravagance.
For Chloe, this Fall collection is probably the last one that Hanna MacGibson designed because her contract is up. She does the 70's well and it shows. This time with some cute jumpers, chiffon dresses and shirts, and great comfortable pants and skirts. Snakeskin prints were a trend throughout the collection and bright colors were thrown in to give a smile to the fashion crowd.
At Emanuel Ungaro, Giles Deacon created a collection that provoked a seduction and a sexiness that is sophisticated and had an air of couture. There were some leather biker jackets partnered with some soft sexy mini dresses, sexy mini sheaths, transparent lace that added a seductive quality to the collection. Deacon wrote in the show notes, “Mr. Ungaro always said he dressed the mistresses, not the wives. I decided to do the same.” And you know what? It worked!
Stella McCartney is going to do well with her collection. The ample cut dresses, pants, jackets, and coats had a nice spin to them. The sleeves were wide and interesting. This part of the collection had an ease and comfort. The other half of the collection was more fitted and had a great sense of class and a touch of sexy elegance. There were some gold pieces, peplums that added some quirk, and the very sexy dresses of see through dots had panels that curved on the body. The Stella McCartney clients will be pleased.
The expectations at Yves Saint Laurent were met. And Stephano Pilati did just that. Wonderful tailoring and a very smart way of playing with some YSL ideas from the past. There was a hint of the mod 60's and soft liquid garments that billowed as they moved. This is a true YSL collection and it is perfection.
So just be open and take in the creative expression of these collections. You will see which of them make your heart beat and put a smile on your face. Perhaps all of them will.
